MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State women's basketball 14th-year head coach Brady Sallee announced the signing of Indiana standout Lillian Barnes (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso High School) along with European standout Klaske Miedema (Netherlands).
Barnes, a two-time winner of The Times Girls Basketball Player of the Year award is a scoring powerhouse for the Valparaiso Vikings. Her playmaking ability has helped Valparaiso to two consecutive regional titles. She has been selected for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Underclass All-State Supreme 15 list for three consecutive seasons while garnering Duneland Athletic Conference (DAC) Most Valuable Player.
She also is the Vikings scoring leader with 1,485 points and is on pace to break the schools' all-time scoring record in both girls' and boys' basketball at Valparaiso High School.
The highly touted Indiana recruit is ranked 165th overall and sits at the 67th best guard in the country while also being tabbed as the fifth best player in the state of Indiana according to Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.
Brady Sallee on Lilli Barnes:
"In this class of in-state '26 recruits, Lilli was the prize! We feel like we got the best player in the state. She does it all and can do it from multiple positions. She competes at an elite level and makes everyone around her better. She is an elite playmaker that Cardinal Nation will love watching for years to come!"
Miedema joins the Cardinals' well-rounded European roster next year after competing for the Orange Lions Academy v21, along with the Dutch women youth basketball league under coach Molly McDowell.
She has also had stints with the CBV Binneland women and the Dutch women's basketball league under coach Harvey van Stein.
Miedema has earned many accolades which includes being selected to play for FIBA European championship U16 division B, U18 and U20. She helped her team earn two Dutch championships the u16 MBCA (2021-22) and most recently the Dutch championship u21 OLA (2024-25).
Brady on Klaske Miedema:
"We are so excited to welcome Klaske to our Ball State Women's Basketball family! Her size, her length and her versatility are exactly what we wanted in this class! Klaske will play multiple positions for us and possesses an ability to shoot it from deep and get it to the rim. She excels in the open floor and simply put; she is an ideal fit in our system!"
