Women's S&D Claims 15 Event Wins to Fly Past the Rockets

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Ball State women's swimming and diving program put on a stellar performance against Mid-American Conference rival Toledo, winning 15 of 16 events to take down the Rockets, 221-78 Saturday afternoon.
On top of nearly sweeping the hosting Rockets, the Cardinals took the top three positions in six events, and the top four spots in three.
Senior Payton Kelly, sophomore Anna Keen and freshman Addy Czarnecki took two individual victories each. Kelly took the top placement in the 100 backstroke (55.32) and 100 freestyle (50.25), while Keen found wins in the 50 freestyle (23.22) and the 100 butterfly (55.16). Czarnecki claimed first in both the 1000 (10:18.95) and 500 (5:03.30) freestyles, earning the first two individual wins of her collegiate career.
The freshman dominance didn't end there, as Addie Beasley earned a winning time of 1:05.49 in the 100 breaststroke, and Milagros Amione secured the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.98.
Also earning individual wins were Alexa Von Holtz in the 200 butterfly (2:04.01), Ava Butterfield in the 200 backstroke (2:06.07), and Maya McDonald in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.50).
Ball State went to work on the diving boards as well, with Grace Walker walking away with wins in both the 1-meter (267.45) and 3-meter (244.65). Eeva-Liisa Gibson placed second on both boards, scoring 206.25 on the 1-meter and 218.85 on the 3-meter.
The women took both of the day's relay events, starting with the team of Kelly, McDonald, Keen and Butterfield in the 200 medley relay (1:43.07). The trio of Kelly, Keen and Butterfield later teamed up with freshman Reagan Graves to secure the win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:27.37)
The Cardinals return home to the Lewellen Aquatic Center Nov. 7 to host Ohio. Events are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET.
