MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team will host its final home game of the season when it hosts Appalachian State Friday for a 1 pm ET start at the Briner Sports Complex.

The Cardinals enter Friday's contest with an overall record of 4-13 while owning a 2-5 conference ledger. App State sits at the No. 3 spot in the MAC standings with an overall record of 11-4 and a 5-2 mark in conference play.

Since August of 2009, the Cardinals own a 9-7 record against the Mountaineers. Ball State fell 3-1 in its last meeting at App State on Oct. 18, 2024. App State has won the last three meeting versus Ball State. The last time the Cardinals defeated the Mountaineers was on Oct. 8, 2021, by a 1-0 overtime decision in Muncie.

The Cardinals are currently led by Julia Verrati who has scored a total of five goals this season. Verratti had two scores in Ball State's win a week ago Friday against Bellarmine including a double overtime game-winner.

As the field hockey regular season is coming to an end for the Cardinals, Ball State will play one MAC contest next Friday on Oct. 31 when it plays at UMass at 4 pm ET. Postseason play starts Nov. 5-8 with the MAC Tournament being host by James Madison this year.
