Bellar, Khan and Smith Named to Men's Golf Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND – Ball State golfers Kash Bellar, Ali Khan and Carter Smith each were named today to the 2024 Men's Golf Academic All-MAC Team, as announced by the Mid-American Conference, recognizing a total of 36 student-athletes for their outstanding achievements in both athletics and academics.
Ball State's entire starting lineup of five golfers would have qualified for the award, but for a freshman and first-year transfer who were not eligible per the award's criteria. Juniors Kash Bellar and Ali Khan each earned Academic All-MAC recognition for the second straight season, and Carter Smith is a first-time honoree. Rounding out the starting lineup for the MAC champion Cardinals, freshman Alec Cesare and junior transfer Braxton Kuntz also had GPAs that exceeded the minimum requirement.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Freshmen, and transfers in their first year of residence, are not eligible for the award.
