Women’s Golf Places Three on Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND - - Three members of the Ball State women's golf program were named to the 2023-24 Mid-American Conference Academic All-MAC Team as announced by the league office Wednesday (May 29).
Representing the Cardinals are sophomores Madelin Boyd, Jasmine Driscoll, and Sarah Gallagher. All three are earning the award for the first time in their collegiate careers.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must own a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and participate in at least 50 percent of their team's events. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Boyd earns the honor after competing in 27 rounds and 10 events for Ball State this past season. A sport management major with a 4.0 GPA, Boyd finished the year with a 77.19 stroke average, including a career-low round of 69 to open play at the Diamante Intercollegiate (Oct. 22-24). Her best individual finish was a fifth-place effort at the Red Wolves Fall Tournament (Oct. 13-14), while she added a 13th-place finish and career-low 54-hole score of +4 (220) at the Puerto Rico Classic (March 5-7).
Driscoll competed in all 31 competitive rounds for the Cardinals this past season, leading the squad with a 75.48 stroke average. A sport management major with a 4.0 GPA, Driscoll played six of her rounds at-or-below par, including a final-round score of -4 (68) at the Boilermaker Classic (Sept. 4-5). Driscoll tallied a pair of top-five tournament finishes on the year, placing third at the Brittany Kelly Classic (Sept. 18-19) and fifth at the Loyola Parkinson Family Invite (Oct. 9-10). She also registered a career-low 54-hole score of E (216) at the Diamante Intercollegiate (Oct. 22-24).
Gallagher also competed in all 31 competitive rounds for Ball State, ranking second on the squad with a 75.84 stoke average. For her play over the course of the season, Gallagher was named to the All-MAC Second Team and earned a spot on the MAC All-Tournament Team after placing fourth at the MAC Championships. An accounting major with a 4.0 GPA, Gallagher played five of her 31 rounds at-or-below par, including season-lows of -1 (71) in the final round of the Diamante Intercollegiate and the opening round of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 23-25). Gallagher earned her first career MAC Women's Golfer of the Week honor after leading the squad and tying for eighth at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational with a career-low 54-hole total of -1 (215).
