Kuntz Ties for 3rd Place in Shortened Don Benbow Invitational
April 02, 2024 | Men's Golf
Junior Braxton Kuntz fired a pair of 2-under-par rounds of 68 on Monday to tie for third place through two rounds of Butler University's Don Benbow Invitational. The final round of the event was canceled for Tuesday, due to overnight rain and conditions forecast for the day.
Kuntz (68-68--136) led a Ball State contingent of four individual golfers, representing the Cardinals in a 54-hole event which Ball State won in 2023. This year, however, the Cardinals used the event for individual work while preparing for this week's Macon Randolph Challenge in Tennessee.
The Canadian lefty shot six birdies in the second round to offset four bogeys, and a more steady first round featured three birdies to counter just one bogey. Kuntz will lineup among Ball State starters this weekend.
Other Ball State individuals at the Benbow Invitational included Jensen Klondike (70-74--144) who finished at par through one round, and 4-over overall. Drew Todd (73-73--146) shot a pair of 73s to finish at 6-over par. Trey Wilson (71-76--147) was one stroke behind Todd.
