Dobbins on Buster Posey Award Watchlist

Award Honors Top Collegiate Catcher

Hunter Dobbins is on the watchlist for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year award, the Wichita Sports Commission announced this week.
The junior catcher from Indianapolis joins 62 other NCAA Division I backstops on the list, from which semifinalists will be chosen from and announced on May 22. Three finalists for the honor will be announced on June 6, while the award presentation is scheduled for June 26 at the Greater Wichita Sports Banquet.
Dobbins is the reigning Mid-American Conference Player of the Week and has accumulated a .284 batting average, 10 doubles, 12 home runs, 33 RBI, 22 runs scored and a .381 slugging percentage through 37 games this year. The junior ranks fourth in the MAC in homers and slugging and tied for fifth in doubles.
Dobbins and the Cardinals are in Kalamazoo this weekend for a series at Western Michigan. The opener is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.
