April 18, 2024 | Track & Field
MUNCIE, Ind. -- The track and field team will head east this weekend for the Jesse Owens Classic in Columbus, Ohio. Competition for the Cardinals is scheduled to begin at noon on Friday, April 19. Â
Last weekend, Ball State hosted the We Fly Challenge at Briner Sports Complex. There were multiple impressive finishes from Cardinal competitors. After bad weather delayed Friday's competition, Malina Miller ended the day with a win in the high jump, hitting a mark of 1.65m. Â
Jenelle Rogers had another good weekend, collecting first place finishes in the shot put (15.35m) and the 100m hurdles (13.93), a second-place finish in the long jump (6.12m) and a third-place finish in the 200m dash (24.29). Â
Other top finishes included Shelby Christman's second place finish in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:37.89), Makayla Sumrall, Alana Springer, Lindley Steele, and Jenna Oriani's win in the 4x100m relay (45.40) and Sumrall's tied win in the 100m dash (11.57). Â
The Jesse Owens Classic will be another great opportunity for the team to perform as they near MAC Championships (May 9-11). Â
