Softball Closes Spring Break with Setback to Notre Dame
March 10, 2024 | Softball
HUNTINGTON, WV - - The Ball State softball team closed play in Marshall March Madness with an 11-3 (5) setback to Notre Dame Sunday morning at Dot Hicks Field.
Â
One day after run ruling the Irish (12-9), the Cardinals (13-13) found themselves down 9-0 heading into the top of the fifth.
Â
Ball State would manage to extend the game thanks to a two-run blast from graduate third baseman Haley Wynn and an RBI double from sophomore right fielder Ashlee Lovett in the top of the fifth.Â
Â
Unfortunately, the Irish countered with a two-run homer of its own in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
Â
Despite the loss, the Cardinals ended its annual spring break trip with a 7-4 mark, including a 3-2 record in Marshall March Madness.
