The Ball State baseball team plays at Southern Indiana in Evansville on Tuesday at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. CT) in its first midweek game of the year.

The Cardinals (4-3) wrapped up a weekend in Conway, S.C., with a 7-1 win over Illinois on Sunday morning. Logan Schulfer threw 5.1 shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out three in the winning effort. Third baseman Michael Hallquist went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run, walk and three runs scored to lead the Ball State offense in its second win so far over a Big Ten Conference opponent (Feb. 18 vs Michigan State).
The Screaming Eagles (2-5) went winless in their season-opening weekend in Mobile, Ala., before taking 2 of 3 at home against Eastern Michigan this past weekend. USI was projected to finish eighth in the 10-team Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll.
The two teams are scheduled to face off on March 26 at 3 p.m. in Muncie.
