Men’s Tennis Earns 7-0 Sweep Over Interstate Rival IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - It may be cold outside, but the Ball State men's tennis team was hot today as they traveled south on I-69 to take on IUPUI Friday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club. The Cardinals tallied a 7-0 sweep over the Jaguars to improve their overall record to 5-3 while IUPUI fell to 3-7 for the year.
The Ball State No. 2 doubles tandem of Mason Tran and Jacks Lancaster opened the match with a 6-2 defeat over IUPUI's Will Thurin and Noah Viste. Shortly after, the top court of Nathaniel Webster and Vince Orlando also cruised to a 6-2 victory versus Kamil Kozerski and Emil Jankowski to claim the doubles point for the Cardinals.
Eli Herran came off the court first after beating Luka Rodic in straight sets at the No. 5 slot. Webster wrapped up his 6-2, 6-2 victory on court one shortly after Herran to push the Cardinals lead to 3-0. The match point was then secured as Sajin Smith took down Nathan Day 6-4, 6-2.
Ball State would also claim singles wins on courts six, two and three, respectively.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues spring play when it returns home Sunday, Feb. 25 for a 1 pm ET first serve against Eastern Kentucky at the Northwest YMCA.
