Planinsek Plays for the 2024 MAC Fall Championship Title Sunday

OXFORD, Ohio - Junior Annika Planinsek has advanced to the inaugural 2024 MAC Fall Championship which is being hosted on the campus of the Miami RedHawks.
Planinsek opened play on Thursday with a straight set defeat over Buffalo's Jagmeet Kaur after taking both frames by a score of 6-4. She then continued her winning ways Friday afternoon with a quarterfinals defeat versus Toledo's Baby Rondon, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).
On Saturday, Planinsek took down Northern Illinois' Nataly Ninova, 6-1, 7-5, which advanced her to the title match on Sunday. Planinsek will face host Miami's Catherine Denysiewicz-Slowek in the championship.
Over the three-day span, Elena Malykh earned a singles victory on the first day over Eastern Michigan's Sabina Brichackova, 6-2, 6-3. Unfortunately, Malykh fell in the quarterfinals to Miami's Denysiewicz-Slowek.
In consolation doubles today, Isabelle Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz beat NIU's twosome of Erika Dimitriev and Nataly Miroslavova, 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
The Ball State women's tennis team will wrap up fall action on Sunday at Miami. First serve is at 12:30 pm ET for the championship singles match.
