Soccer Suffers 3-2 Setback at Miami

OXFORD, Ohio – The Ball State soccer team got out to a 2-0 lead over Miami, but the RedHawks scored three unanswered goals to claim a 3-2 win on Friday night at Bobby Kramig Field.
The Cardinals (7-6-2, 2-4-2 Mid-American Conference) struck first on a header by Avery Fenchel in the 14th minute. Delaney Caldwell scored her seventh goal of the year early in the second half for the 2-0 edge.
Miami (6-4-5, 2-3-3 MAC) got each of its goals in a span of 13 minutes late in the game, bookending the flurry with goals by Taylor Hamlett in the 70th and 83rd minutes to get on the board and go ahead.
The host RedHawks took more shots (23-16) but the visitors had more on goal (9-8). Miami had more corner kick opportunities (7-5) and were whistled for more fouls (8-7).
Jordyn Jeffers and Addie Chester were credited for Fenchel's and Caldwell's goals, respectively. Ball State goalkeeper Grace Konopatzki played the full game and made five saves.
The Cardinals return home to host Northern Illinois at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the regular season home finale. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
