Soccer Falls to NIU in Final Home Match

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State soccer team fell 3-1 to Northern Illinois on Thursday afternoon in its final match of the season at the Briner Sports Complex.
The Cardinals (7-7-2, 2-5-2 Mid-American Conference) surrendered goals to three different Huskies including Aubrey Robertson in the 18th minute that gave the visitors a 1-0 edge going into halftime.
Another goal in the first two minutes of the second half extended NIU's advantage to 2-0.
Graduate defender Jordyn Jeffers scored her first career goal in the 81st minute from just outside the 18-yard box for the final tally of the day.
Each team got off 12 shots on the day, with Northern Illinois putting more on goal (8-6). The Huskies fouled more (17-14), and Ball State got more corner kicks (5-2).
Northern Illinois (9-4-4, 3-3-3 MAC) made five saves to emerge with the conference road win. Ball State goalkeeper Grace Konopatzki collected five saves on the day but suffered the loss.
Ball State's next match is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday at league-leading Western Michigan.
