» OFF TO A RECORD START: Ball State picked up right where it left off last season, beginning the year with the best opening meet score in program history at 194.925 ... The previous record was 194.475 set at Kentucky to open the 2018 season ... The second-best mark was the team's 194.100 at No. 2 Florida last season.

» ON THE NATIONAL STAGE: Ball State's team score of 194.925 was the 25th-best mark in the nation opening weekend and the best score among the five Mid-American Conference schools in action ... The Cardinals finished the 2023 season ranked 34th nationally with an NQS of 196.395

» VAULTING OFF STRONG: Ball State's best event opening weekend was vault, with the Cardinals producing a score of 49.150 which ties as the sixth-best team vault score in program history and as the 12th-best among all NCAA gymnastics programs opening weekend ... Leading the way was senior Suki Pfister who opened the season with a vault of 9.925, while senior Victoria Henry was not far behind at 9.875 ... The efforts tied as the ninth-best and 26th-best individual vault scores on Ball State's all-time list, respectively.

» PICKING UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF: Suki Pfister's score of 9.925 not only won the vault competition at UNC Quad (Jan. 5), but it also tied as the sixth-best vault score in the nation opening weekend ... It was also the best score among Mid-American Conference gymnasts on any event last week and earned her a fifth career MAC Specialist of the Week honor ... Of her 33 career vault performances, 11 have gone for scores of 9.900-or-higher.

 » FINDING A RHYTHM ON FLOOR: The Cardinals also turned in one of the nation's top floor performances opening weekend, registering a team score of 49.025 which tied as the 18th-best score nationally ... Senior Victoria Henry won the even for the Cardinals at the UNC Quad (Jan. 5), earning a 9.900 in her first floor routine of the season.

 » HENRY SOLID ALL AROUND: In addition to winning floor (9.900) and tying for third on vault (9.875) at the UNC Quad (Jan. 5), senior Victoria Henry took home top honors in the all-around with a score of 39.275 ... It was the fourth-best all-around mark of Henry's career and ties as the 10th-best individual all-around score in program history ... The effort also included a 9.775 on beam and a 9.725 on bars.

» THE FRESHMAN IMPACT: Three freshmen made an immediate impact in their collegiate debuts at the UNC Quad (Jan. 5) starting with Ashley Szymanskiwho led the team on bars with a score of 9.825 ... The effort placed third overall at the meet and tied as the second-best bars routine among MAC student-athletes opening weekend ... Ava Molina registered a 9.725 on floor and Lindsay Fuller scored a 9.725 on beam, with both scores also counting in the team's final score.

» ON TO WATCH: Sophomore Zoe Middleton, one of two Ball State student-athletes named to the 2023 MAC Gymnasts to Watch list, also got off to a solid start with a score of 39.000 in her first collegiate all-around competition ... She scored a career-high 9.850 on vault and added a 9.850 on floor ... She also registered a 9.700 on bars and a 9.600 on beam ... All four routines counted in Ball State's final team score ... During her freshman campaign last season, 37 of Middleton's 39 routines counted towards Ball State's team total.

- Graduate student Megan Teter competed in the all-around for the first time in her collegiate career at the UNC Quad (Jan. 5), scoring 38.125 ... Her best mark came on floor with a 9.775, while she added a 9.725 on vault and a 9.700 on bars.

- Last season, Ball State registered 179 scores of 9.800-or-higher, with 58 on floor, 45 on vault, 40 on bars and 36 on beam ... The total included 34 scores of 9.900-or-better.

» RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCES IN 2023 - TEAM:
-Â Â Â Ball State's score of 196.900 versus Western Michigan (March 12) marked the second time the Cardinals broke the program record for team score in 2023, the first was a 196.550 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic (Jan. 20).
-Â Â Â Of the top 10 team scores in program history, nine come last season.
-   Ball State broke the vault team score record with 49.250 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic and tied the mark at Bowling Green (March 3) … In fact, BSU registered the four best team vault scores in program history last season.
- The Cardinals also registered the top four beam team scores in program history last season, led by a program record of 49.350 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic.

» RECORD-BREAKING PERFORMANCES IN 2023 - INDIVIDUAL:
- Ball State tallied a program record seven individual scores of 9.900-or-higher at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic (Jan. 20) … The previous best was three scores of 9.900-or-higher in the same meet set March 5, 2017 versus Western Michigan and tied Feb. 6, 2021 in a quad at Eastern Michigan and March 3, 2021 in a home quad.
- Megan Teter set the program record on bars with a 9.950 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic and has four career bars routines of 9.900-or-higher.
- Suki Pfister tied the program record on floor with her 9.950 at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic … She has also tallied three scores of 9.950 on vault over her career, with the latest coming versus Western Michigan (March 12) last season.
- Four Cardinals tied the program record on beam last season, starting with Taylor Waldo and Grace Evans scoring 9.925s at the Tennessee Collegiate Classic … Waldo and Grace Sumner earned 9.925s on beam during the Ball State Quad (Jan. 29), while Waldo and Lauren Volpe landed 9.925s versus Northern Illinois (Feb. 12).
- Ball State also saw the all-around program record topped last season when Victoria Henry scored a 39.400 versus Central Michigan (Feb. 26) … She started the day with a 9.875 on vault, followed by a 9.775 on bars, and a career-best 9.850 on beam … Henry then closed the meet on floor, earning the event win with a 9.900.
- Hannah Ruthberg would follow with a 39.400 of her own in the quad meet at Missouri (March 10) … Her performance was highlighted by a career-best 9.900 on beam and included 9.850s on vault and bars, as well as a 9.800 on floor.

- In the program's first 11 seasons under head coach Joanna Saleem, Ball State has tallied the 25 best team scores in program history … In fact, of Ball State's 29 scores of 195.450-or-higher, 27 have been set by Saleem's squads.
- Saleem's squads own the event records on vault (49.250), beam (49.350), and floor (49.500), along with the second-best score in program history on bars (49.250).
- All 36 entries on the vault record book are held by Saleem's teams, as are 19 of 24 scores on beam, 19 of 25 scores on floor, and 19 of 26 scores on bars.
