MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State women's golf team will look to build upon its program record performance at this past week's Brittany Kelly Classic when it travels to Wolcott, Colorado, for the 2023 Golfweek Red Sky Classic.Â
Â
The three-day, three-round event begins Monday at the Red Sky Golf Club. The Cardinals are one of 16 teams set to compete on the par-72, 6,305 Fazio Course with first-round action beginning at Noon ET / 10 a.m. MT. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
Â
Teams set to join Ball State are defending event champion and ninth-ranked Pepperdine, along with Arkansas State, Boise State, Central Arkansas, East Tennessee State, High Point, Kennesaw State, Little Rock, Mercer, Murray State, New Mexico State, South Dakota State, UIC, UNCG and Wofford College.
Â
Set to represent the Cardinals at the Golfweek Red Sky Classic are senior Kiah Parrott, sophomore Jasmine Driscoll, junior Sabrina Langerak, freshman JJ Gregston and sophomore Sarah Gallagher. The same quintet started the week by combining for a program record 54-hole score of 875 to guide the Cardinals to the team title at the second annual Brittany Kelly Classic.Â
Â
The title was the 24th team title in program history and the first 54-hole championship since BSU captured the 2019 Cardinal Classic also played at the Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, Indiana.
Â
Individually, Parrott was named the latest Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after placing second overall at the Brittany Kelly Classic with a score of 215 (-1). She was one of only two players to finish the tournament in red numbers, with her score ranking as the third-lowest 54-hole score in program history.
Â
Parrott's effort included a second-round score of 69, which is the second-lowest round for a Ball State player so far this season. The lowest round was a 68 shot by Driscoll at the season-opening Boilermaker Classic.
