Tribute to Women’s Golf Trailblazer and Cardinals Hall of Famer Brittany Kelly
May 22, 2023 | Women's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. -- Our Cardinal hearts flock today to Prairie View Golf Club where Indiana PGA professionals and associates tee-it-up to help raise money for the Brittany Kelly Memorial Fund which continues her legacy in supporting girls and women's golf in the state of Indiana through the Indiana Golf Foundation and Indiana Section PGA.
A native of Fishers and a PGA professional and assistant pro at Woodland Country Club in Carmel, Brittany lost her battle with ovarian cancer August 31, 2021, less than a month prior to her induction into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame.
A three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection and a two-time All-American Scholar over her Cardinals career which spanned from 2007-11, Kelly became the first Ball State women's golfer selected for an NCAA Regional during a phenomenal senior season in 2010-11. She set BSU records for single-season scoring average (75.06), career average (76.43) and 54-hole tournament score (215).
At Ball State and beyond, Brittany is known for blazing a trail for women's golf. In 2022, she became the first woman in Indiana to be awarded the Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year and she became the namesake for the Brittany Kelly Indiana PGA Women's Player of the Year after winning the award in three consecutive years.
Brittany was a member of the USA PGA Tournament Committee and the Indiana PGA Board of Directors where she co-chaired the associates committee focusing on improving the communication to/and education of associate professionals. Brittany's most memorable golf experience was when she was a member of the inaugural Women's PGA Cup Team and helped the United States secure a victory in 2019.
