
Polishchuk, Kaplan and Planinsek Honored with Postseason All-MAC Awards

CLEVELAND - The Ball State women's tennis team was again awarded this season by the Mid-American Conference for its success on the court with Mariya Polischuk earning Co-MAC Player of Year and First Team All-MAC along with Amy Kaplan being tabbed to the All-MAC Second Team and Annika Planinsek received All-MAC Freshman award.Â

This is the first time in Polishchuk's career she has been named the MAC Player of the Year and the second time to receive All-MAC First Team accolades. Polishchuk has played a vital role in the Cardinals success for the last three seasons. As Ball State's No. 1 singles player, she has posted an overall record of 27-2 along with a 9-1 conference ledger. She also posted a 16-9 mark in doubles play this season.Â

Kaplan, who saw action mainly on courts No. 2 and No. 3 in singles this season while also playing primarily at the top spot in doubles, has earned her first postseason honor as she has been tabbed to the Second Team All-MAC squad. Kaplan has registered an overall singles mark of 24-6 while registering an 8-2 ledger in league play. Kaplan finished the regular season in doubles with a 16-5 record.Â

Planinsek has made quite a splash this season for the Cardinals. This newcomer has been tabbed the MAC Freshman of the Year. Planinsek went 19-5 this season in singles and 13-7 in doubles play. She ended the MAC regular season with an impressive 8-1 singles ledger, playing at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots.Â

Ball State will now compete for its third-ever Mid-American Conference Tournament title on Saturday in the semifinal round as the No. 2 seed. The Cardinals will face the third-seeded Buffalo Bulls on Saturday, April 29, at 2 pm ET at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting. If inclement weather were to occur the Cardinals will play at the Northwest YMCA.Â
