
Softball Drops Series Opener at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - - The Ball State softball team opened its three-game Mid-American Conference series at Western Michigan with an 10-2 (6) setback Tuesday afternoon at Ebert Field.
Redshirt sophomore catcher McKayla Timmons drove in the game's first run in the top of the first with an RBI single to left giving the Cardinals (17-20; 7-8 MAC) some early momentum. BSU extended its lead to 2-0 moments later thanks to a squeeze bunt by senior designated player Jazmyne Armendariz.
Unfortunately, the Broncos (12-16; 6-3 MAC) countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and never looked back, scoring the final 10 runs of the game.

- Fifth-year senior shortstop Amaia Daniel extended her hitting streak to six games with an infield single in the first inning … She also scored her 117th career run in the contest.
- Senior second baseman Haley Wynn opened the game with a single, and later came around to score her 119th career run.
- Redshirt sophomore right fielder McKenna Mulholland added a sixth-inning double, extending her streak of reaching base safely to six games … It was Ball State's 53rd double of the season and Mulholland's seventh.
