
Provan Leads Diving On Day 1 Of NCAA Zone C Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - Sophomore Ashleigh Provan paced Ball State's four divers on the opening day of the 2023 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, placing 16 out of 49 competitors on the 3M board.

Provan was 15th after the preliminary round, in which she scored 270.50. Her fourth and fifth dives made the biggest impact, giving her 51.80 points each. The first was a reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck, while the second was a back 2 ½ somersault tuck.

In the finals, Provan added 267.05 points to bring her total score to 537.55 for the day. Her best dive in the finals was her fourth, a reverse 2 ½ somersault tuck for 49.00 points.

Also competing on 3M for the women was freshman Maddy Hischer who placed 43rd with a score of 215.40. Her top dive was her first, a forward 2 ½ somersault pike which garnered 44.40 points.

On the men's side, freshman Porter Brovont placed 29th overall on the 1M board in his NCAA Zone debut, scoring 222.75. Brovont's first dive was his best of the day, as he scored 48.10 points on a forward 2 ½ somersault pike.

Senior Wyatt Blake followed in 31st, with a total score of 211.75. His first dive of the competition was also his best on the day, as Blake scored 50.70 on his forward 2 ½ somersault pike.

Action in the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships concludes tomorrow for the Cardinals, with the men competing on 3M and the women on 1M. Both events are set to start at 1 p.m.
