Women’s Tennis Dominates MACtion Friday Against NIU; Earns 7-0 Sweep

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team (14-3, 3-1 MAC) got right back on the winning track after posting a 7-0 sweep against Northern Illinois (11-11, 1-3 MAC) Friday afternoon at the Northwest YMCA.
The Cardinals breezed through doubles action with Allison Mulville and Maria Polishchuk taking down the Huskies No. 2 doubles tandem of Reagan Welch and Diana Lukyanova by a 6-0 decision. After that, Jessica Braun alongside Emily Desai clinched the first point of the match with their 6-1 defeat against NIU's No. 3 duo of Isabelle Righi and McKenna Chudy.
In singles, Mulliville finished first to push the Cardinals lead over the Huskies to 2-0 after beating Righi in straight sets at the No. 6 slot. Maria Polishchuk followed suite with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on the top court over Erika Dimitriev.
With Ball State needing just one more point to take the match from Northern Illinois, Braun came through at the No. 3 position after registering a 6-1, 6-3 win over Reagan Welch.
The Cardinals went on to take the remaining three courts from the Huskies to complete today's sweep.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action when it plays on the road at Eastern Michigan Sunday. First serve is at 1 pm ET at the Chippewa Club.
