
Cardinals Collect Three More Event Wins at GVSU Big Meet

ALLENDALE, MI – The Ball State track and field team finished day two of the GVSU Big Meet with three more event wins from three different student-athletes. The Cardinals finished the regular season strong and are heading into the Mid-American Conference indoor championships on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.

Junior Alexis Thigpen collected an event win in the 400m dash running a 56.34. Senior Grace Dean led the pack in the 800m run. She finished in first place and ran a 2:14.59 while freshman Leila Williams-Molitor placed fourth in the event running a 2:18.24.

Sophomore McKenna Cinotte tallied her first event win of the season in the triple jump, scoring an 11.20m / 36-9.

In the 60m hurdles, junior Jennah Rogers finished in second place running an 8.99. Sophomore Makensie Kramer (9.09), freshman Mary Porter (9.17) and senior Lea-Marie Diedicke each finished in the top-ten in the 60m hurdles.

"I'm excited about our team's performance at the meet this weekend. This was our last opportunity to sharpen our skills before the dress rehearsal for the big show at the MAC Championship in a couple of weeks," head coach Adrian Wheatley said. "I couldn't be more proud of how our athletes competed and continued to answer each challenges we presented them throughout the indoor season. The determination, resilience, and unwavering spirit we have demonstrated have left us with a ton of momentum heading into the MAC's."Â
The Cardinals will compete next at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio on Feb. 24 and Feb. 25.ÂÂ
