Women’s Tennis Wraps Up Play at UC/Pam Whitehead Invite

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State women's tennis team completed its two-day event Saturday evening after playing at the UC/Pam Whitehead Invitational which was hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
The Cardinals faced players from UC, Miami, and Xavier. All-in-all Ball State had a competitive turnout in both singles and double. BSU played one round of doubles today that saw the twosome of Elena Malykh and Ella Hazelbaker defeat Xavier's Abby Nugent and Sofia Mazzucato, 6-3.
In singles, the Cardinals played Cincinnati and Miami. Malykh was the lone Cardinal to go 2-0 in singles play after registering a 6-2, 6-4 victory versus UC's Victoire de Samucewicz. She then followed with a 7-5, 6-7 (5), 10-7 win against the RedHawks' Emilia Valentinsson.
Also, against Miami, Isabele Tanjuatco, Sarah Shahbaz and Hazelbaker claimed singles victories over their respective opponents.
The Ball State women's tennis team will take a break from fall play over the next few weeks and will return to the court for their final tournament at Michigan State (Nov. 3-5).
