Bellar Named MAC Co-Golfer of the Week
October 05, 2023 | Men's Golf
MUNCIE, Ind. – Ball State golfer Kash Bellar finished in a fourth-place tie at 5-under par during last weekend's Badger Invitational. It is fitting that Bellar share Mid-American Conference Co-Golfer of the Week honors with Northern Illinois' Felix Krammer – with whom he tied among 90 golfers last week in Wisconsin.
For Ball State, it marks the third consecutive week that Cardinal golfers have earned the MAC Golfer of the Week award. Carter Smith won the conference honor the first two weeks of the college golf calendar.
Bellar finished fourth (71-68-72—211) last weekend after briefly taking the lead at University Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday. He fought through a bogey and double-bogey in his first nine holes of round one on Sunday before rebounding to shoot 2-under par in the last nine holes. His hot streak continued while scorching the course with a 4-under par 68 in Monday's second round and he grabbed a momentary lead on Tuesday after consecutive birdies on the 10th, 11th and 12th holes. He bogeyed two of the last three holes, though, to slip into a tie for fourth place.
Bellar and the Cardinals are in preparation for this week's event at the Purdue Fall Invite which begins Monday, Oct. 9.
