Fenchel Named MAC Offensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND - - After leading all league players with three goals last week, Ball State soccer senior forward Avery Fenchel has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Fenchel, who earns the honor for the first time in her illustrious career, started the week by scoring her second brace in as many games in the Cardinals' 2-1 win at Akron last Thursday. She scored the opening goal of the match in the 17th minute and followed with the match-winner in the 87th, helping Ball State climb to first in the MAC standings.

In last Sunday's 2-2 draw versus Ohio, Fenchel opened the scoring with her third goal of the week, her 11th of the season and the 24th of her collegiate career. Overall, Fenchel tallied nine shots and seven shots on goal over BSU's two matches last week. With the draw, the Cardinals remained undefeated at home (5-0-1) and remained tied atop the league standings (5-0-3).

Fenchel, who ranks 13th nationally with her 11 goals this season, and the rest of the Ball State soccer team return to the road for the last time for the 2023 regular season Thursday with a 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT kickoff at Northern Illinois.
