Malykh Earns Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week Honors

MUNCIE, Ind. - Sophomore Elena Malykh of the Ball State women's tennis team has been tabbed Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the league office announced Thursday.
Malykh played at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions for the Cardinals this week. She began the week with a straight set victory over IUPUI's Sarah Lounsbury. Malykh took the first set by a score of 6-0 and then the second frame 6-3. She helped the Cardinals to a 7-0 sweep over the Jaguars.
On Sunday, Malykh earned an impressive three set thriller over Big Ten foe Purdue's Juana Larranaga, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 on court six.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues spring action on the road when its travels to Louisville Saturday, Jan. 28. First serve is at noon.Â
