
Ball State Hosts Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic

MUNCIE, Ind – The Ball State women's golf team will host its annual golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 19 and Tuesday, Sept. 20. The Cardinals changed the tournament name to the Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic in honor of former BSU golfer Brittany Kelly.
Kelly, a former Ball State women's golf standout (2007-11) and one of the top playing and teaching PGA assistant professionals in the country, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021. She was 32 years old.
Kelly, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the fall of 2019, was named the 2022 Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year. The first female recipient of the honor, which originated in 1955, Kelly started her professional career at The Hawthorns Golf & Country Club in Fishers and most recently worked at Woodland Country Club in Carmel.
Kelly was inducted into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021.
Payton Bennett, Peyton Broce, Jasmine Driscoll, Sarah Gallagher, and Kiah Parrott will represent the Cardinals. Madelin Boyd and Paige Hillman will be competing as individuals.
Ball State will be joined by Akron, Dayton, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Loyola, Oakland, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, and Western Michigan.
The tournament is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with round two immediately following round one. BSU will begin on holes 1-4 and will be joined by Eastern Michigan and Oakland.
