Softball Welcomes Assistant Coach Jordan McNary

MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State softball head coach Lacy Schurr has announced the addition of Jordan McNary to the 2023 coaching staff.

"I am thrilled to have Coach McNary on staff here at Ball State," Schurr said. "She has a tremendous drive and will to succeed, which she has demonstrated throughout her coaching and playing career. Jordan's experience in the outfield and with the short game will be an asset to our program."

McNary will join the Cardinals as an assistant coach after spending last season in the same role at Morehead State. As a member of the Eagles coaching staff, McNary helped the program increase its conference win total by four games over the 2021 season. She worked primarily with MSU's outfielders, baserunners, and slappers, plus served as the program's recruiting coordinator.

"I'm very excited to get on campus to connect with our student-athletes and share my knowledge. The culture that has been built with the softball program is nothing shy of passionate, hardworking, and competitive. I can't wait to contribute and grow here."

Prior to joining the Morehead State staff, McNary was an assistant coach for the Louisville Lady Sluggers club program, organizing and directing all practices and games for the 18U program. She also developed conditioning programs for the entire organization, while providing player assessments to coaches at all levels of NCAA Softball.

In addition to her club duties, McNary was a volunteer assistant coach for Ballard High School (2017-19), an assistant coach at Asbury University (2019-20), and an assistant coach at Eastern High School (2021).

A 2017 graduate of Louisville with a bachelor's degree in sport administration, McNary was a four-year standout and three-year starter for the Cardinals (2014-17). A two-time Second Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) selection, McNary finished her career with a .318 batting average and 37 stolen bases.

McNary's 37 career stolen bases still rank 10th in program history, while her 14 swipes in 2017 led the squad. She also helped guide Louisville to three NCAA Regional berths and the 2014 American Athletic Conference (AAC) tournament championship.

In the classroom, McNary was a four-year recipient of the Woodford R. Porter Scholarship and earned the 2015 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award. She was also a three-time academic all-conference selection and a 2017 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar Athlete.
