Women’s Tennis Earns ITA Academic Team Honors for 22nd Time In Program History
July 19, 2022 | Women's Tennis
MUNCIE, Ind. - For the 22nd time in 26 seasons, the Ball State women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team, after earning a 3.7 grade point average on Ball State's 4.0 scale.
In addition, a record breaking eight members of the squad received individual ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades — seniors Hannah Davies and Livia Lukacs along with juniors Jessica Braun, Emily Desai, and Emma Peeler. Rounding out the eight Cardinals to earn the individual honors were sophomore's Isabelle Behrman, Mariya Polishchuk and freshman Ella Hazelbaker.
Lukacs has received the prestigious honor for four straight years while Braun and Peeler are three-time recipients. This marks the second time Desai and Behrman have earned the award.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale). All varsity letterwinners are factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2021 and spring 2022).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letterwinner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
