July 15, 2022 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. – Head Coach Josh Rife announced the Ball State soccer team's 2022 regular season schedule on Friday. The Cardinals will face a tough non-conference schedule as part of the 18-match schedule.
Ball State begins the fall with two exhibitions, one at home against Tiffin and one on the road at Notre Dame.
The Cardinals open the 2022 campaign on the road with SEC powerhouse Kentucky on Aug. 18. Ball State stays on the road for a contest with Queens in Charlotte, N.C, on Aug. 21. BSU closes the three-game road stint with a match against in-state foe Indiana in Bloomington on Aug. 25.
Cardinal fans will get their chance to see Ball State at home for the first time on Aug. 28 against Xavier. The Musketeers finished the 2021 campaign with a 16-3-1 record and earned a spot into the NCAA Tournament.
The Cardinals return to the road and start the new month against Fort Wayne on Sept. 1. Ball State will host another in-state program as Valparaiso makes the trip to Muncie on Sept. 4. The Beacons finished last year with a 10-6-2 mark.
On Sept. 15, Ball State makes a short trip to Indianapolis for a match with Big East foe Butler to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule. The Bulldogs posted a 15-5-1 record last year and made it to the NCAA Tournament.
After a tough slate of non-conference matches, the Cardinals open Mid-American Conference play on the road against the Miami RedHawks on Sept. 22. The good news for Cardinal Nation is that Ball State closes September with a two-match homestand, with the first match against Eastern Michigan (Sept. 25) followed by NIU (Sept. 29).
The Cardinals start October with two matches in Northwest Ohio. Ball State battles the reigning regular season and MAC Tournament Champions in Bowling Green on Oct. 2 before it takes on Toledo on Oct. 7.
BSU returns to the friendly confines of the Briner Sports Complex for a contest against Western Michigan on Oct. 9. Akron comes to town to end the two-match homestand on Oct. 13.
Ball State ends the regular season with three of the four contests on the road. The Cardinals will face the Ohio Bobcats on Oct. 16 followed by a match with the Kent State Golden Flashes on Oct. 20.
The final regular season contest at home will be against Buffalo on Oct. 23. Ball State will travel to Central Michigan for the regular season finale on Oct. 27.
The 2022 MAC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Oct. 30 followed by the semifinal round on Nov. 3 and the championship on Nov. 6.
Admission to all Ball State home soccer regular-season matches at the Briner Sports Complex are free for all fans.
From the Coach – Head Coach Josh Rife
"I'm excited for our fall schedule. We have a great slate of in-state competition with some challenging regional games. The MAC schedule is always challenging and pushing ourselves in non-conference helps to prepare us for that tough road ahead."
