May 09, 2022 | Men's Volleyball
DALLAS, Texas - Off the Block announced today that Ball State graduate senior setter Quinn Isaacson has earned the Lloy Ball Award for being the nation's top setter while his teammate graduate senior opposite Angelos Mandilaris has earned the Bryan Ivie Award which is giving to the nation's top opposite.
Â
The First Team NVA/AVCA All-American honoree continues to garner accolades for his success on the court this season as Isaacson was also named the All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association First Team and All-MIVA Tournament squad. Prior to the season, he earned preseason All-MIVA honors for back-to-back seasons. Isaacson earned MIVA Player of the Week honors twice this year. The senior setter ranks atop of the NCAA and the MIVA in assists per set with 11.42. He has dished out a personal-best 1,045 assists for the season and finished his career ranked sixth all-time on Ball State's career top-20 list with 3,193 assists. Isaacson led the team in service aces with 34 and served up the winning ace against then-top-ranked Hawai'i on Jan. 31.  Isaacson also led the nation in assists all season along with earning NCAA All-Tournament Team honors.
Â
In only one year of action, Mandilaris has made quite the impact on the Cardinals' offense, recently earning Second Team NVA/AVCA All-American accolades, his first All-MIVA postseason honor while also being voted to the MIVA All-Tournament Team. Mandilaris was named the MIVA and AVCA National Player of the Week on April 5 for his strong showing offensively but also defensively. He threw down 32 kills off 69 swings for a .333 hitting percentage to help the Cardinals move past McKendree and Lewis - both in 3-0 sweeps. Mandilaris finished the season ranked second on the team in kills (304), second in service aces (21) and second in block assists (65). Â

The Ball State men's volleyball team ended its magical season last Thursday night in the 2022 NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship semifinals inside UCLA's Pauley Pavilion after falling to eventually champions Hawai'i in a 3-2 battle.Â
Â
As Ball State awaits the final AVCA Coaches Poll, Ball State was ranked No. 4 last week which was the highest the Cardinals have ever been ranked in program history. The Cardinals ended their season with a 23-4 overall record.
