Braun Named Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference announced its weekly Scholar Athlete of the Week Award on Wednesday. Jessica Braun earned the accolade after an outstanding week as she represented the Ball State women's tennis team at the MAC Championship.

Braun was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2022 MAC Women's Tennis Championship after clinching the tournament title for the Cardinals with a thrilling three-set victory (7-5, 4-6, 6-4) over Toledo's Julia Kuszynski in the final match of Sunday's 4-3 victory. She played at No. 3 doubles position with Livia Lukacs to pick up a 6-3 win and helped BSU earn the doubles point. Braun and Lukacs also earned a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles spot in Saturday's semifinals to help the Cardinals earn the doubles point in a 4-2 victory over Buffalo.

The Cardinals return to the courts for the first round of the NCAA Tournament against the defending National Champions in the Texas Longhorns. First serves are scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on Friday, May 6.
