Cardinals battle tough conditions in opening two rounds at Purdue Invitational

Ball State in 11th after 36 holes
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – After an hour-long weather delay to begin the day, the Ball State men's golf team played 36 holes in temperatures in the mid-30s to begin the Purdue Invitational Saturday.
The Cardinals are in 11th at 34-over (298-304--602) after two rounds at the par-72 Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. Only two teams, leaders Illinois (-7) and Purdue (-6), shot below-par in the 14-team field.
Ball State was led by Joey Wiseman, who is tied for 19th at 3-over (70-75--145). The junior carded an eagle on the par-5 16th hole in his first round, in addition to six birdies overall, including four on the front nine.
Ali Khan is part of an eight-way tie for 40th at 8-over (74-76--150). The freshman had four birdies on the day with three coming on the back nine.
The remainder of the Ball State contingent is within a few shots of each other as Joey Ranieri is tied for 59th at 13-over (77-78--155), Colin Nasser is tied for 64th at 15-over (82-75--157) and Griffin Hare is tied for 67th at 16-over (77-81--158). The trio had seven birdies on the day.
The Cardinals are paired with Butler and Wisconsin for the final round Sunday, beginning at 10:45 a.m. ET off the 10th tee box.
