Polishchuk, Peeler and Norris Honored with Postseason All-MAC Awards
April 29, 2022 | Women's Tennis
CLEVELAND - The Ball State women's tennis team was again awarded this season by the Mid-American Conference for its success on the court as the 2022 MAC Regular Season Champions had a squad member earn First Team and Second Team All-MAC honors while Head Coach Max Norris was tabbed the MAC Co-Coaches of the Year. Â
Â
Mariya Polishchuk has been tabbed to the First Team All-MAC for the first time in her career as she was voted to the second team last season. Polishchuk played a vital role in the Cardinals back-to-back MAC Regular Season Championship title this year. She posted a 15-1 dual mark which included a 6-1 ledger in league play where she primarily played on the top three courts for the Cardinals. She also went 10-2 in doubles alongside Peeler as the duo went undefeated with a 6-0 mark in conference action. Â
Â
Emma Peeler, who saw action mainly on the top court for the Cardinals in both singles and doubles, earned eight dual wins and posted an unblemished 6-0 mark in MAC play in doubles alongside teammate Polishchuk. This is the second-straight season Peeler has been awarded with a postseason All-MAC accolade as she earned First Team All-MAC in 2021. Â
Â
Norris picked up MAC Coach of the Year honors for the third time in his career (2016, 2021 & 2022) after leading the Cardinals to the program's fourth MAC regular season championship (2016, 2017, 2021 & 2022) in the past six conference seasons, with all four coming under his tenure. The Cardinals finished the year with a 17-4 overall record, including an 8-2 ledger in league play. Â
Â
Ball State will now compete for its second-ever Mid-American Conference Tournament title on Saturday in the semifinal round as the No. 1 seed. The Cardinals face the fourth-seeded Buffalo Bulls on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. ET at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting. If inclement weather were to occur the Cardinals will play at the Northwest YMCA.Â
