Redshirt freshman fires even-par 72 in final round of the event
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ali Khan guided the Ball State men's golf team in the final round of the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate Sunday. The redshirt freshman fired an even-par 72 to finish at 5-over (75-74-72--221) at the par-72 Columbus Country Club.
Kahn was the Cardinals' highest finisher in a tie for 44th and was one of just seven golfers in the 81-player field to improve his score in each round. The Columbus native racked up three birdies on the day - all coming in consecutive order from the No. 1-3 holes - in addition to 12 pars.
Joey Ranieri was just one shot back and tied for 48th at 6-over (76-71-75--222). The senior tallied three birdies on the day, including two on the back nine, which gave him seven on the back nine in his three rounds.
Colin Nasser (73-74-78--225) and Joey Wiseman (72-74-79--225) tied for 58th at 9-over. The duo combined for four birdies and 19 pars on their final scorecards.
Rounding out the lineup, Griffin Hare tied for 64th at 14-over (75-75-80--230), while Carson Orr finished 77th at 18-over (77-78-79--234).
As a team, Ball State finished 13th at 29-over (893).
The Cardinals will shift their focus to the postseason as they next take to the course April 29-May 1 for the Mid-American Conference Championship, hosted by Northern Illinois.
