Ball State travels to Ohio State for Jesse Owens Classic

Cardinals looking to build off strong performance at home meet
MUNCIE, Ind. – Aiming to build off its strong performance at its home meet, the Ball State track and field team is set to travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Jesse Owens Classic, April 22-23.
Hosted by Ohio State, the annual event kicks off with the javelin throw Friday at 1 p.m. Running events begin in the late afternoon with the 400-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. and continue into the night. Saturday's field events open at 10 a.m. with the discus and conclude with the 4x400-meter relay at 3:40 p.m.
Fans attending are able to park for free in the Gray lots 6 and 7 in the attached parking map.
Joining the Cardinals in competition this weekend include Alleghany, Ashland, Baldwin Wallace, Cedarville, Cleveland State, Denison, Eastern Michigan, Findlay, Franciscan (Ohio), Huntington, Indianapolis, IVC Elite, Kent State, Malone, Mount Union, Mount Vernon Nazarene, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Ohio Christian, Ohio Dominican, Ohio State, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, Roberts Wesleyan, Shawnee State, SISU, Southern Illinois, St. Vincent (Pa.), Walsh, Westminster (Pa.), Wheeling, Wilmington (Ohio), Wright State, Xavier and Youngstown State.
Ball State is coming off hosting a successful meet in Muncie with the We Fly Challenge, where personal bests and event wins were aplenty.
Event wins came from Payton Barlow (400m dash), Kennedy Batts (100m hurdles), Charity Griffith (long jump), Kayla Jones (800m run), Jenna Oriani (100m dash, 200m dash), Jenna Schifferer (5000m run), Juliana Stogsdill (3,000m steeplechase) and Karlie Zumbro (400m hurdles, javelin), while multiple Cardinals set their best marks of their careers last Saturday.
Following the Jesse Owens Classic, Ball State wraps up its regular season with the WMU Jack Shaw Invitational, April 29-30.
