Kaplan Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - - After posting a 2-0 singles mark on court No. 4 last weekend with wins over Bowling Green and Miami, Ball State junior Amy Kaplan has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week.
Kaplan started the weekend off with a quick 6-0, 6-0 take down over Bowling Green's Maru Poppe helping the Cardinals defeat the Falcons by a score of 4-3.
On Sunday, Kaplan fought her way back into her match over rival Miami after dropping the first set she went on to take frames two and three winning the match over Miami's Sara Zalukar, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
With the victories, Kaplan improved her overall MAC record to 6-1 on the season and 14-2 in dual action. She helped Ball State improve to 15-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action on the road next weekend when the Cardinals play at Western Michigan on Friday, April 15 at 1 pm ET at Sorensen Courts, weather permitting or West Hills Athletic Club.
