Women’s Tennis Comes Back to Sweep Singles For 6-1 Win Over UC San Diego

LAJOLLA, Calif. - The Ball State women's tennis team took all six singles courts from UC San Diego to complete the come from behind 6-1 victory over the Trojans Wednesday evening at the Northview Tennis Courts.
With the win, Ball State improves to 9-2 overall while UC San Diego drops to 2-11 on the year.
The Cardinals found themselves in unfamiliar territory as Ball State dropped the doubles point to the Trojans. UC San Diego took all three doubles points from Ball State today. Emma Peeler and Amy Kaplan though put up a hard-fought battle on the top court losing the tie breaker to Ella Pachl and Any Bhadada, 7-6 (7-4).
Ball State dominated singles play versus UC San Diego after easily tying the match as Mariya Polishchuk made a quick exit off court No. 2 by taking a straight set decision against Adriana Tabares, 6-1, 6-1.
Elena Malykh also handled her opponent with ease at position No. 5 posting a 6-0, 6-1 win to give BSU the 2-1 edge against UC San Diego.
Peeler followed suit beating Pachl 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 1 single position to push Ball State's cushion even further, 3-1.
It comes to no surprise that the Cardinals match point was clinched by Kaplan after she took down UC San Diego's No. 3 singles player Katelyn Vu, 6-2, 6-4.
The Ball State women's tennis team will take a slight break from the court before entering Mid-American Conference action on Sunday, March 20 at home against Western Michigan. First serve is at 1 pm ET and will be played at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
