
Pfister Heads To Norman For NCAA Regional Vault

MUNCIE, Ind. - - On Thursday afternoon, sophomore vault specialist Suki Pfister will be back in action as she represents Ball State gymnastics at the 2022 NCAA Norman Regional hosted by Oklahoma.

Pfister will compete on vault alongside Boise State in the final rotation of the opening session of Thursday's (March 31) second round action. The session is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT at the Lloyd Noble Center.Â

Pfister is one of 16 individual gymnasts to compete on vault across the four NCAA Regional sites and is the second-highest ranked among individual competitors with her NQS of 9.895.

The only individual ranked higher is Iowa State's Makayla Maxwell with a NQS of 9.915 and she will compete at the Auburn Regional.

Breaking down the top vaulters at the Norman regional, Pfister looks to be in solid shape to contend for a berth to the NCAA Championships, ranking sixth among competitors slated to compete on the day.Â

In order to advance to the national championships, Pfister would need to finish as the top vault specialist not on an advancing team from round two at the Norman Regional.

The 2022 Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Year, Pfister finished the regular season as the only vaulter in the league to record more than two scores of 9.900-or-better on the apparatus, turning in four.

In BSU's regular season finale at Central Michigan (March 11), Pfister turned in the best vault in the MAC this season with a 9.950, which earned the Fort Wayne native her second MAC Specialist of the Week honor.

With the effort, Pfister became only the fifth gymnast in program history to register a routine of 9.950-or-higher in any event. In fact, it was just fifth vault and 11th overall routine in program history to score that high.

Overall, the 2022 First Team All-MAC honoree has registered 11 vaults of 9.850-or-higher this season, including a 9.850 effort to tie for second overall at the MAC Championships.
