March 31, 2022 | Gymnastics
NORMAN, Okla. - - Ball State sophomore vault sensation Suki Pfister turned in another solid performance Thursday afternoon, scoring a 9.850 at the Norman Regional of the 2022 Women's National Collegiate Gymnastics Championships.
Â
The effort tied as the fifth best in the opening session of the championship's second round and as the best effort by a student-athlete not from session winner Minnesota.
Â
Counting athletes from the second session, her scored tied for 11th overall among the 51 competitors on the day. Unfortunately, despite the solid score, Pfister's season comes to an end as she is out of contention to advance to the NCAA Championships set for April 14-16 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
Â
Overall, it was Pfister's 12th vault of at least 9.850 this season, including her 9.850 to tie for second overall at the Mid-American Conference Championships.
Â
The 2022 MAC Specialist of the Year and All-MAC First Team selection, Pfister finishes the season as the only vaulter in the league to record more than two scores of 9.900-or-better on the apparatus with four.
Â
In BSU's regular season finale at Central Michigan (March 11), Pfister turned in the best vault in the MAC this season with a 9.950, which earned the Fort Wayne native her second MAC Specialist of the Week honor.
Â
With the effort, Pfister became only the fifth gymnast in program history to register a routine of 9.950-or-higher in any event. In fact, it was just fifth vault and 11th overall routine in program history to score that high.
