Men’s Tennis Finishes MAC Home Weekend With Win Over Buffalo

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team finished its Mid-American Conference home weekend play with a 5-2 victory over Buffalo Sunday afternoon in the Northwest YMCA Tennis Center.
With the win, the Cardinals improved to 8-7 overall and 3-2 MAC play while the Bulls fall to 2-11 for the year and 1-4 in league action.
In doubles, the Cardinals won at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to take the team point. Thibault de Negri and Eli Herran teamed up at the number two spot for the 6-4 defeat against Buffalo's Danilo Snaiders and Finn Macnamara. The team point was clinched by the number three duo of Vince Orlando and Parrish Simmons with another 6-4 win over Vasisht Cheruku and Simon Wibler.
In singles, the Cardinals made quick work to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Herran won 6-0, 6-2 at number six and Orlando beat his respective opponent on court number five, 7-5, 6-3.
de Negri clinched the match point for Ball State after putting up a good fight at the No. 2 singles position defeating Wibler, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3).
The Ball State men's tennis team continues Mid-American Conference action at home on Saturday, April 2 against Toledo. First serve is at 2 pm ET at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, weather permitting.
