Game Notes: Ball State | Buffalo
Opening Tip:
- Wednesday's game against Buffalo will mark the 34th time in program history the two schools have met, with the Cardinals leading the all-time series, 19-14.
- Ball State and Buffalo have already met once this season with the Cardinals winning that game in Buffalo, N.Y. by a score of 72-70. The Cardinals were led by freshman Ally Becki that contest as the true freshman turned in a 21-point performance against the Bulls.
- Brady Sallee owns an 9-7 (.562) ledger when coaching against the Bulls from 2012-13 until present.
- Ball State and Buffalo's first-ever meeting was on Jan. 30 at Buffalo in 1998-99. The Bulls won that meeting 71-63 and would go onto win the next two over the Cardinals. Ball State's first-ever victory over Buffalo was in Worthen Arena on Feb. 9 by a score of 72-59.
- Ball State has won four of the last five contests from 2019-20 until present.
- Both teams are looking to get back on the winning track after the Cardinals and the Bulls each got their each got their five-game win streaks snapped on Saturday. Ball State fell at Kent State 61-64 while Buffalo lost in overtime to Northern Illinois, 64-69.
- The last time Buffalo played in Worthen Arena was last season on Feb. 20 resulting in a 83-76 victory for the Bulls.

The Cardinals currently rank 9th in the nation among its Division I peers in 3-point field goals per game 9.3. Ball State also ranks in the top-50 in 3-point field goal attempts coming in at 17 with 617 and 21st in the nation for total 3-pointers made with 205.
Becki ESPN Top 10 Plays:
Freshman Ally Becki turned in a star studded performance at Buffalo a week ago with a career best 20 points. Becki made the ESPN top 10 plays after nailing a half court shot at the buzzer to end intermission against the Bulls helping Ball State take the lead over Buffalo at the break and a later the victory against UB.
Ball Control:
In the Cardinals last 16 contests Ball State has been able limit its turnovers against its opponents. Against Purdue Fort Wayne, the Cardinals only committed 12 turnovers and then mimicked that type of performance against Pitt with a season low nine miscues. Ball State matched that season low nine turnover performance at Kent State on Feb. 12. Currently, the Cardinals assist/turnover ratio is 1.11 which is good for a national ranking of 39 and ranks first in the MAC.
Let The Countdown Begin:
The Mid-American Conference Tournament believe it or not is less than a month away. The tournament which takes place in Cleveland, Ohio at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse begins on March 9. The top eight seeds make it to the tournament for the quarterfinals which begin on Wednesday. The semifinals are played on Friday, March 11 with the championship game to be played on Saturday, March 12. As of right now, the Cardinals currently sit in fourth place and would face the No. 5 seed which is held by Kent State as of Feb. 15, 2022.
Big Time Becki:
Freshman Ally Becki has been showing up big time for the Cardinals this season especially in Ball State's last five contests. In BSU's last six games, Becki has averaged 17.2 points per contest and 7.2 rebounds while dishing out 37 assists and knocking down 21 3-pointers.
Next Game:
After tonight's contest the Cardinals hit the road again for a rematch against MAC leader Toledo. Ball State and the Rockets will face off at 2 pm in Savage Arena. BSU will then return home for Monday for a makeup contest against Western Michigan. Tipoff for that contest will be at 6:30 pm ET.
