Cardinals Host Huskies on Tuesday

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State Cardinals men's basketball team will be back at home on Tuesday for Mid-American Conference action against Northern Illinois. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the game is sponsored by Stoops Automotive Group.
 
Last time out, Payton Sparks led the team with 19 points and 12 rebounds on his way to his eighth double-double of the season along with his one block against Buffalo. Luke Bumbalough added 16 points, while shooting 4-of-7 from 3-point range and brought down six rebounds. Demarius Jacobs went for 14 points with three assists, two rebounds, a block, and a steal. Tyler Cochran rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points along with six rebounds and a block. Cochran had a career afternoon with his eight assists and six steals, both career-best totals.
 
Sparks continues to lead the Cardinals in both scoring and rebounding with 13.2 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per contest. He also leads the squad with 11 blocks. Cochran is second on the team in scoring with 12.2 points a game, is second on the squad with 5.7 rebounds per game, and has a team-high 46 steals. Bumbalough is averaging 11.7 points a contest and leads the team with 72 assists. Miryne Thomas rounds out the double-digit scorers with 11.0 points a game. Jacobs and Thomas are tied for second on the team with 10 blocks.
 
In the meeting at NIU earlier this season, Cochran notched double figures as he had a game-high 17 points. He added six rebounds, a game-high three steals, and two assists. Thomas tallied 13 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Sparks chipped in with 11 points, a team-high eight rebounds, and one steal. Luke Brown posted a career-high 10 points to go along with his assist and rebound.
 
The Cardinals hold a 59-39 advantage over the Huskies. Ball State has won the last five meeting, including a 74-67 victory in DeKalb earlier this season. BSU is 35-12 against NIU in games played in Muncie.
 
Keshawn Williams paces the Huskies with 16.2 points per game. Trendon Hankerson is the only other scorer in double digits with 11.0 points a game and leads with team with 41 steals. Anthony Crump has a team-high 5.2 rebounds per contest. Chinedu Kingsley Okannu leads the Huskies with 15 blocks. Kaleb Thornton has a team-high 84 assists.
 
In the meeting earlier this season, Williams led NIU with 16 points and added three rebounds and a steal. Hankerson went for 12 points, six rebounds and a team-high three steals. Zool Kueth notched double digits with 12 points. Adong Makuoi and Crump each picked up 10 points for the Huskies. Makuoi collected a game-high nine rebounds.
