Gallagher Paces Ball State, Cardinals Finish in Ninth

INDIANAPOLIS – The Ball State women's golf team closed out the Butler Fall Invitational on the Highland Golf & Country Club on Tuesday. Sarah Gallagher led BSU for the tournament and tied for seventh.
"This week was another quality learning experience for our young squad," said Head Coach Cameron Andry. "The course was firm and fast, and it took us some time to adjust but we did make improvements as the tournament went on."
Gallagher led the Cardinals for the second-straight day. She posted a final-round score of 77 (+7) and finished with a three-round total of 228 (+18). She tied for seventh and notched her second top-10 finish of the season. She tallied two birdies for the tournament.
Payton Bennett, who competed as an individual, jumped up 16 spots on the leaderboard after a final-round tally of 75 (+5). She tied for 26th with a score of 235 (+25). She collected three birdies across the three rounds.
Jasmine Driscoll recorded a combined score of 237 (+27) with a final-round mark of 78 (+8). She tallied three birdies for the tournament and finished tied for 36th.
Madelin Boyd climbed 13 spots in the standings into a tie for 53rd after a final-round score of 79 (+9). Her three-round tally of 243 (+33) included two birdies.
Paige Hillman led the Cardinals with four birdies for the tournament, including two in the final round as she posted a tally of 76 (+6). Her tournament total of 246 (+36) rocketed her up 17 spots into a tie for 64th.
Peyton Broce moved up two spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 64th. She produced a three-round score of 246 (+36) after a final round of 82 (+12).
Ball State finished in ninth with a combined score of 947 (+107). Austin Peay won the tournament with a team mark of 900 (+60), while Youngstown State came in second with a 916 (+76).
The Cardinals return to the fairways on Monday, Oct. 10, for the first day of the Rocket Classic on the Catawba Island Golf Club.
