October 20, 2022 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State field hockey team sits in good shape in the Mid-American Conference standings as they are tied for first place heading into Friday's contest at App State. The Cardinals and the Mountaineers will begin play at 6 pm ET at Brandon & Erica M. Adcock Field.
Â
The Cardinals enter this weekend's play with an overall record of 7-7 and a 4-1 Mid-American Conference ledger while the Mountaineers have posted an overall mark of 9-5 and a 3-2 conference stint. The 4-1 MAC record is the best start under first-year head coach Caitlin Walsh since the 1999 league season. That year the Cardinals began conference action with a 5-1 ledger.
Â
Last year Ball State defeated App State in Muncie after senior Lexi Kansky scored the lone goal in the game to move the Cardinals past the Mountaineers by a score of 1-0 at the Briner Sports Complex on Oct. 8, 2021. The last time Ball State fell to App State was in the non-traditional season on March 13, 2021, in Boone, N.C., by a score of 1-0.
Â
After Friday, Ball State will play a non-conference contest at Davidson. The game will be played at noon as the Cardinals visit Belk Turf Field. Ball State last faced Davidson on Sept. 1, 2019 at a neutral site, resulting in a 1-0 victory for the Cardinals.
