KETTERING, Ohio – The Ball State men's golf team faced tough conditions on the opening day of the UD Flyer Invitational Monday. The Cardinals and the rest of the 13-team field played through frigid temperatures and were unable to complete the scheduled 36-hole day.

Ali Khan and Carter Smith are tied for 30th and 35th at 9-over and 10-over, respectively. Khan eagled the par-4, 458-yard No. 12 hole in his first round and has 14 pars through 16 holes in the second round. Smith had a birdie on the ninth hole in his opening round and racked up 22 pars through 33 holes.
The remaining trio of Griffin Hare, Colin Nasser and Drew Todd are part of a six-man tie for 63rd at 15-over.
As a team, the Cardinals are 11th at 38-over, but are just seven strokes away from fifth. Illinois and Wright State are tied for the lead at 19-over.
The remainder of the second round and the entire third round are expected to be completed Tuesday with a later start due to a freeze warning, beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
