- This will mark the 62nd meeting in a series that began in 1982-83 when the Cardinals defeated the Huskies 86-83 on Jan. 26 in DeKalb, Ill. The Cardinals lead the all-time series record 39-22. The last time the two met was in DeKalb, Ill. on Feb. 24, 2021 resulting in a 82-79 win for Ball State.
- Ball State 10th-year head coach Brady Sallee has won 14 of the last 19 meetings against the Huskies dating back to his first season at the helm in 2012-13.
- Both teams are looking to get back on the winning track on Wednesday night in DeKalb. Northern Illinois recently suffered 68-72 loss to Central Michigan on Saturday while the Cardinals dropped their Mid-American Conference opener as well at Bowling Green by a score of 58-82.
- Senior Thelma Dis Agustsdottir led the Cardinals in scoring with 14 points on New Years Day at Bowling Green. She became the 30th member of the program's 1,000-point club and the ninth player to reach that milestone under 10th-year head coach Brady Sallee. Dis Agustsdottir was perfect from the charity strip and shot 50 percent from the field including three 3-pointers. Agustsdottir hit a 3-pointer at the 7:26 mark which came off of a dish from junior Sydney Freeman for her 1,000th career point. Agustsdottir leads the Cardinals from behind the arc with 23 3's this season. She also ranks second highest on the team in scoring averaging 10.7 points per game.
- Ball State 10th-year head coach Brady Sallee owns an 8-1 mark over the Huskies when playing in DeKalb. The lone year he lost was in 2019-20 by a score of 62-70 on March 4.

After today's contest, the Cardinals return to Worthen Arena to host their Mid-American Conference rival Miami University on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. The RedHawks are the closest league school in proximity to Ball State. The distance between Oxford, Ohio and Muncie, Ind. is approximately 68.7 miles.
