Men’s Tennis Closes Out ITA Kickoff Weekend with Loss to Middle Tennessee

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Ball State men's tennis team wrapped up its two-match weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Sunday afternoon at the Boar's Head Sports Club host by Virginia.
The Cardinals (2-2) fell to the Blue Raiders (4-2) by a score of 4-0 in the consolation match on Sunday.
Middle Tennessee took doubles wins on courts two and three to take the early 1-0 edge over Ball State. Danilo Kovacevic and Chris Adams were knotted against the No. 44 ranked Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump by a score of 4-4 at the top spot before play went unfinished.
In singles play, the Blue Raiders took victories on the top three courts from the Cardinals. Thibault de Negri earned three games from No. 82 Francisco Rocha in frame one at the No. 2 spot and two games in set two but fell, 6-3, 6-2.
Ball State's No. 3 Nathaniel Webster managed three games over Chris Edge as well in set two.
The Ball State men's tennis team returns to the road Friday at Xavier. First serve is at 1:30 p.m. ET at the Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
