Women’s Tennis Has Successful Weekend At Bethany Moore Invite

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's tennis team opened fall action this weekend on a high note as the Cardinals hosted their third annual Bethany Moore Invitational which was held at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center (Sept. 24-25).
Prior to today's final day of competition, the Cardinals had earned 10 singles championship slots and finished the weekend winning five of them. Ball State won over 20+ matches in singles play in a two-day span. Ball State also found success in doubles play as well both in the main draw and the consolation bracket.
Jessica Braun was crowned the champion of the top singles bracket defeating her teammate Amy Kaplan, 7-6, 6-3. Mariya Polishchuk and Emma Peeler squared off for the title in the No. 2 bracket with Polishchuk coming out on top after winning in straight sets.
In the third championship bracket veteran Livia Lukacs battled in a three -set thriller for the victory over freshman Hannah Davies.
In the fourth singles bracket, Emily Desai was crowned champion after beating Youngstown State's Jessica Stanmore, 6-0, 3-6, 10-6.
In doubles action, the duos of Davies and Lukacs, Polishchuk and Elena Malykh along with the BSU's twosome of Braun and Desai all were able to close today out with victories.
The Ball State women's tennis team will continue fall play when it travels to Eastern Michigan next weekend for the Eagles three-day event from Oct. 1-3.
