The Road To A MAC Title Begins Friday For Field Hockey
September 16, 2021 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - It is something every team looks forward to after playing some very tough non-conference games. The Cardinals will now begin their quest for a Mid-American Conference title which begins Friday at the Briner Sports Complex in BSU's league opener against Central Michigan beginning at 1 p.m. ET.
Â
The Cardinals enter Friday's contest with a 2-5 ledger while the Chippewas come to Muncie with a 1-4 record.Â
Â
The last time these two teams collided was on Ball State's home turf on September 28, 2019 at the Briner Sports Complex when the Cardinals shutout the Chippewas by a score of 2-0. Current junior Angel Nkosi was one of two Cardinals that scored for Ball State in the contest.  Ball State and CMU did play last spring in their non-traditional seasons in Mount Pleasant which resulted in a weekend split with the Chippewas winning 1-0 on April 17 and the Cardinals closing the competition with a 2-0 victory on April 18. Current sophomore Maureen Donegan and junior Kerrianne McClay both found the back of the cage for the Cardinals that game.Â
Â
After Friday, the Cardinals will continue league action when they travel to Ohio University on Sept. 24 for a 3 p.m. ET match-up against the Bobcats before returning home Sunday, Sept. 26 to host Big Ten foe Indiana.
